ABOUT MOJTABA PORHEMMAT

As a registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA and a Civil Engineer at WSP, I bring over 10 years of diverse experience in geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and hydrotechnical engineering across Canada, Malaysia, and Iran. In my recent roles at WSP, I have been primarily involved in QA/QC, construction monitoring, geotechnical field investigations, drilling supervision, borehole logging, and instrumentation installation in support of infrastructure and oilsands projects in Alberta. With over hours of fieldwork in Northern Alberta, I’ve gained a strong understanding of regional geology, oilsands-specific challenges, and the importance of safety and precision in field execution. I’m also contributing to design tasks, such as slope stability modeling and report preparation, working closely with senior engineers to translate field data into practical engineering solutions. I regularly use tools like SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, OpenGround Cloud, gINT, AutoCAD, Global Mapper, and programming languages such as Python and MATLAB to support data interpretation and decision-making. Earlier in my career, I held project and research positions in Malaysia and Iran, including work in Hydrotechnical projects, environmental remediation, groundwater modeling, hydrogeology, and geotechnical QA/QC for subway tunnel construction. I enjoy working in collaborative, cross-disciplinary environments and take pride in producing high-quality technical work that supports safe and sustainable infrastructure. I am also committed to ongoing professional development through certifications in geotechnical software, safety training, and data science.
