Mohsen Banan is both a skilled engineer and a successful businessman.As an engineer, Mr. Banan has over 20 years experience. He is a recognized expert in the design and implementation of distributed systems, especially message handling systems and mobile data networks. He is particularly well-known for his expertise in protocols.And as a businessman, Mr. Banan has run Neda Communications as a successful and profitable company for over eleven years. In addition to its financial success, Neda is also a highly innovative industry leader.Mr. Banan has a long track record of participation in standards related activities. Over the years he has participated in various activities of NIST-OIW and CTIA, and IETF. He is also the founder of the Free Protocols Foundation.As a result of his visionary work Mr. Banan has accumulated a large body of publications. Some of his most recent and influential publications include RFC-2524, RFC-2188, Internetwork Mobility (published by Prentice-Hall), and the ground-breaking industry white paper Operation WhiteBerry.Mr. Banan is also the author of a large body of open-source and free software, most of which is in the form of highly portable and efficient protocol engine implementations. This software is freely available at MailMeAnywhere, Neda\'s open-source software distribution center.Mr. Banan holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from Seattle University and an MS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.Specialties: I know the data communications industry from top to bottom.    Jan 1991 — Present

   Started as a one-man consulting shop which grew within 5 years to 12 employees and annual revenues of $1.2 million. Made a succesful transition from a consulting business to a products and services company based on open-source and free software. Transitioned back to a one-man consulting shop.Built a complete state-of-the-art Data Center from the ground up. Provided consulting and/or contract engineering services for numerous clients and projects. Satisfied clients include: Sierra Wireless, AT & T Wireless Data Division, CDPD Forum, Data Critical, Electronic Mail Association, Emulex, Motorola, Microsoft. From 1992 to 1995, played a key role in the creation of the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) industry. Led the technical network architecture design for the CDPD specifications, and was directly involved in the planning, development and deployment of the network services for AT & T Wireless Services. Provided liaison and advocacy for client interactions with various standards organizations including TIA, ANSI and IETF/IESG/IAB.
