About Mohsen Vatandoost
Dr. Mohsen Vatandoost is a Lecturer, Researcher, and Founder/Director of the FORM Lab at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan.He holds a Ph.D. in Architectural Technology from the University of Tehran, as well as dual master’s degrees in Structural Engineering (M.Sc.) and Architectural Engineering (M.Arch.) from the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST).Dr. Vatandoost’s research spans a wide range of topics, including computational design, optimization, structural design, robotics and digital fabrication, additive manufacturing, and machine learning for building performance prediction.He has taught as a Lecturer, Adjunct Lecturer, Guest Lecturer, and Teaching Assistant in multiple design studios and courses at institutions such as the University of Michigan, University of Tehran, Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), and the Iranian Architecture Center (IAC).Beyond academia, Dr. Vatandoost is the co-founder and board member of BMG Group, an engineering consulting firm based in Iran, where for over two decades he has contributed to the design, supervision, and construction of diverse architectural and structural projects. Since 2009, he has also held professional engineering licenses and certifications in the field.
