ABOUT MOHSEN MOMENITABAR
Throughout my educational journey, I have built a strong foundation in transportation engineering, logistics, operations research, and data science, applying these skills to solve real-world challenges through research, innovation, and collaboration. My experience spans the design and implementation of advanced mathematical optimization models, robust and metaheuristic algorithms, and machine learning techniques, as well as GIS-based spatial analysis for complex decision-making problems.During my doctoral studies at North Dakota State University, I led projects on public transit network electrification, sustainable supply chain design, and transportation safety, developing multi-objective optimization frameworks and decision support tools that address operational efficiency, environmental sustainability, and public safety. I applied robust optimization and heuristic methods to solve large-scale transportation problems and integrated big data analytics to inform policy and operational strategies.I have also managed and contributed to multiple state- and federally-funded research projects, collaborating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams. These projects have involved electric vehicle infrastructure planning, pedestrian and bicycle safety enhancement, emergency vehicle pre-emption strategies, and multimodal transportation planning. My work has consistently bridged the gap between theory and application, transforming data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and operational improvements.Over the course of my academic career, I have developed a diverse skill set, including Python, SQL, and PySpark programming, statistical modeling, simulation, GIS, and visualization tools, as well as expertise in CPLEX, Google OR-Tools, and other optimization platforms. This combination of technical proficiency, research leadership, and collaborative problem-solving has enabled me to contribute impactful, data-driven solutions that advance the goals of efficiency, sustainability, and safety in transportation and logistics systems.
