About Mohsen Mehran
Dr. Mehran is a certified ground water professional with over 40 years’ experience in hydrogeology, ground water quality, and environmental sciences and engineering. He has held teaching and research posts and has taught advanced courses in ground water hydrology, contaminant transport in fractured/porous media, and soil mechanics. He has served in senior technical and management positions with responsibility for conducting remedial investigation/feasibility studies; RCRA Facility Investigations; risk assessment; and design, installation, and operation of remediation systems. Dr. Mehran has developed/applied computer models to solve ground water flow and chemical migration problems. He has applied this specialty to site characterization, evaluation of remedial alternatives, development of cleanup criteria, and cost allocation among potentially responsible parties (PRPs) for various industries and government agencies. Dr. Mehran is active professionally by publishing and regularly presents at industry conferences. He has been a reviewer for the Journals of Groundwater; Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation; and Environmental Science and Technology. He has been a member of the Research Advisory Board of the National Water Research Institute since 1991. He recently served on the National Academy of Sciences Committee on “Future Options for Management in the Nation’s Subsurface Remediation Effort”. The efforts of the Committee resulted in publication of the book entitled “Alternatives for Managing the Nation\'s Complex Contaminated Groundwater Sites”. Dr. Mehran is a certified mediator. He provides legal support and expert witness testimony for cases including environmental compliance, sources and causes of contamination, off-site contaminant migration, allocation of cost amongst PRPs, justification for the type/extent of remediation imposed by the regulatory agencies, and relative responsibilities of owners and tenants.
