My journeyWhile pursuing CA in 2015, I started working with my dad’s accounts firm, and then I knew I wanted to develop something new. I quit my family firm and started researching India’s top 10 India’s business opportunities. After extensive market research, I found Indian Handloom/Handicraft to be the second largest employment sector in India after Agriculture. When I dug deeper into these fields, I found that Indian Handicrafts and Handlooms are highly appreciated in the world widely for their traditional and regional arts. However, I couldn’t find any too much Indian brand fulfilling that need. Hence, I thought of starting something in this niche and making this industry grow fast at the International level. In this way I would be able to represent the old traditional and regional cultures of India to the world. And eventually, my inclination towards art and upliftment of Indian manufacturers led me to withdraw from my CA degree as well. Based on the concept of Silk Route which is an ancient network of trade routes connecting the economic, cultural, political, and religious interactions between the EAST and WEST; SILKRUTE was established in 2016. ​​Silkrute, a Cross Border e-commerce marketplace to buy Indian Specialized Products globally under one roof at fair prices offering immense opportunities to Indian manufacturers, craftsmen and artisans to grow their online presence worldwide. Now a customer can buy directly from the manufacturer/craftsmen/seller through Silkrute despite having any exporter - importer - wholesaler - retailer in between. Hence, bridging the gap between seller and buyer and giving impetus to the growth opportunities for trade with affordable prices. I launched this marketplace 5 years ago and today we have reached a milestone of having thousands of artisans and sellers of India on board which are specialized in eco-friendly, natural, organic & handmade products. Silkrute was started with a seed capital and the company now records annual turnover in millions. My mission is to uplift more than one million sellers/craftsmen/manufacturers all over India till my last breath.
