ABOUT MOHEND CHAOUCHE

My primary professional objective is to make a significant contribution, through research and innovation, to reducing CO2 emissions in industry towards achieving net-zero by 2050.My background : Current position : Research Director at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), at LMPS (Mechanical and Civil Engineering Laboratory) and LPS (condensed matter Physics Laboratory)I\'m the director of the joint laboratory CNRS-ECOCEM Materials (MC2E : Eco-Efficient Cementitious Materials)(2020->)I received my doctoral degree in Physics from the University Pierre & Marie Curie (Paris) in 1993 and completed a post-doctoral research on polymer science at the French Institute of Petroleum. I have been a visiting scholar at Cornell University, Ithaca NY (department of chemical and at Northwestern University, Evanston IL (Civil Eng. And Material science Dep.)(20••••12). During my academic career,I authored more than 100 scientific papers and applied for 12 patents related to low CO2 cement products. I supervised 25 PhD students, 15 of whom conducted their research between academia and industry. My main areas of expertise -Transport in porous media and fluid mechanics-Rheology of complex fluids as polymers, granular suspensions, colloids and industrial fluids (concretes, mortars, etc.)-Physico-chemistry of colloids including cementitious materials-Chemistry of cement hydration Main achievements related to low CO2 cements-Co-inventor of the ultra low CO2 cement ECOCEM-Ultra (based on alkali-activated slag)-Co-inventor of ECOCEM ACT technology allowing to divide by 4-5 the content of Portland clinker in concretes-SCALABLE cement with net negative CO2 impact : Pending patent with the CNRS
