About Mohd Wasit Manhas
I am a PhD researcher specializing in Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), analyzing the intersection of climate science, hazard mapping and community vulnerability in high mountain regions. My research focuses on understanding not just where and how these floods occur but more critically, who is affected and why.By integrating geospatial analysis with socio-economic vulnerability assessments, I aim to support proactive risk mitigation strategies that move beyond reactive disaster response. My work highlights the often-overlooked realities of climate inequality, poor planning and the systemic risks faced by under resourced communities in glacier fed landscapes.Currently, I am engaged in work that involve flood modeling, remote sensing and resilience planning, exploring how climate data can inform policies that protect both people and ecosystems.I welcome opportunities for collaboration in the areas of climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development. Let’s connect to exchange ideas on innovative approaches to mountain hazard mitigation and climate informed planning.
