As a member of the Feedstock and Sustainability Solutions Team at the NOVA Chemicals Centre for Applied Research, I contributed to projects focused on advanced recycling, decarbonization technologies, and the development of sustainable feedstock production technologies. My roles included- Apply the principles of chemical engineering including process design, mass and heat, to develop technologies for plastic recycling and low intensity ethylene process- Design of experimental setup for the evaluation of advanced recycling technologies while ensuring that all aspects of process operations meet internal and external safety and environmental standards- Experimental planning and design of experiments using DesignExpert and LeanSigma software- Plan, conduct, troubleshoot, and interpret laboratory and pilot experiments- Integrating catalysis knowledge with reaction and process engineering to develop and scale-up new process technologies- Conduct literature and patent landscape review for legal and business development teams to maintain strong IP strategy and status- Originate novel patentable concepts, leading to the development of IP assets- Conduct technoeconomic analysis of new technologies using process modeling tools- Knowledge dissemination through publishing of technical reports and presentations.

ABOUT MOHANNED MOHAMEDALI
Mohanned has a Ph.D. degree in Process Systems Engineering with 10+ years of R&D experience in Industry and Academia. Mohanned is an experienced researcher that is passionate about promoting the scientific development of clean energy and environmental research. His research focus is on adsorption and heterogeneous catalysis for applications in CO2 capture and utilization, hydrogen production, advanced recycling, photocatalysis, and the conversion of biomass-derived feedstocks to fuels and value-added chemicals. As a member of the Feedstock and Sustainability Solutions Team at the NOVA Chemicals Centre for Applied Research, Mohanned contributed to projects focused on chemical recycling, techno-economics evaluation of decarbonization technologies, and the development of sustainable feedstock production technologies. As a Mitacs Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Calgary, he was mentoring a team of 5 Ph.D. students on developing materials and processes for syngas and chemicals production from methane. Before joining the EERG, Mohanned was working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Advanced Energy Research Laboratory (AERL), the University of Regina on the development of photocatalytic methane conversion technologies. Mohanned has a proven track record working in research-driven institutions with a multidisciplinary team of researchers to address various research problems. He has expertise in thermodynamic, kinetics, and process modeling of chemical processes using Mathematica, HYSYS, and AspenPlus software.
