ABOUT MOHAMMED MARIKAR

I’ve spent more than 20 years working at the intersection of technology and finance. My career started in investment banking and wealth management, with roles at UBS and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). At RBC I served as a UK FCA-regulated advisor before moving into digital innovation and artificial intelligence - where I founded the bank’s first Innovation Lab in Europe, deployed its first agentic AI system in 2016, and also ran the bank’s UK academic partnerships, sponsoring research in artificial intelligence at leading universities including Imperial College London.I’ve always believed in connecting industry and academia, and today I continue that work as an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Southampton, helping PhD students translate research in AI for Sustainability into practical applications.Bringing together this experience, I co-founded Neem Capital, an AI-native investment firm that connects global capital with high-impact opportunities in developing markets. I also serve as Head of Institutional Development at FLock.io, helping to apply its pioneering federated machine learning and privacy-preserving AI toolkit in large organisations.I’m a London native and Mathematics graduate from Imperial College London. I started programming at the age of five, and I still enjoy open-source projects and white-hat hacking. Alongside my professional work, I sit on the board of The Brokerage, a social mobility charity that opens pathways into finance and technology careers.
