ABOUT MOHAMMED DESAI

An experienced BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 10 years experience working in mental health, including working for IAPT services since 2013. Highly successful and adept at assessing and treating clients using evidence-based approaches with positive outcomes. A passionate and driven individual who is highly skilled, respected and valued. Possessing excellent interpersonal skills, extensive knowledge of common mental health issues and the ability to work collaborative with clients to improve their quality of life. Experience of providing supervision to IAPT professionals as well as being proficient in dealing with risk and difficult situations as well as remote working. Examples of skills I possess but not limited to include:Assessment and Formulation Skills – Able to skilfully complete assessments to recognise the main presenting issue and to deal with co-morbidity as well as following NICE guidelines. I am able to expertly choose an appropriate formulation and develop this collaboratively with the client. Communication Skills – Highly proficient and adept at communicating both verbally and in writing. This has been reflected in feedback from CTSR’s, observations, feedback from other health professionals and clients. Use of evidence based protocols- Experience of utilising recommended evidence based protocols. Able to expertly use protocols as recommended but also possess the ability to work according to clients abilities. Risk assessment management – Over 10 years experience of assessing and dealing with risk related issues. Able to provide detailed risk assessment and deal with risk related issues. Teamwork – Highly successful working in teams and thrive working within a team environment. I have positively contributed to all the teams I have been part of and have always been a valued and respected team member. Contracts and boundaries – Ensuring a therapy contract is set up with each client and covers key areas such as regular attendance, homework and risk amongst others as well as discussing expectations and boundaries.
