About Mohammad Khakhariawala
I’m a software engineer working on Observer Apex at Viavi Solutions, where I help build a high-performance analytics platform that processes large volumes of network traffic data. My work spans C++ backend development, web APIs, and database design (PostgreSQL), focusing on how data is collected, stored, and visualized to provide real-time network insights.Through this work, I’ve gained hands-on experience with multi-threaded systems, software design principles (interfaces, dependency injection, SOLID), and performance-sensitive architecture. I’ve also contributed to Viavi’s integrations with external platforms like CrowdStrike, helping bridge network analytics with threat-intelligence data to identify malicious IP activity. What excites me most is the engineering craft behind building reliable, scalable systems — balancing design trade-offs, understanding how software behaves under load, and making code both efficient and maintainable. I’m particularly interested in how these ideas extend into areas like distributed systems, high-performance applications, and modern C++ design.I see myself growing toward roles where I can work closer to the core of systems and infrastructure — exploring the intersection of scalability, performance, and architecture. I’m continuously learning, experimenting, and improving my understanding of how great systems are designed from the ground up.
Experience
Software Engineer
Mar 2025 — Present · Hopkins, MN, US
Developed C++17 backend modules for Observer Apex, handling network-traffic ingestion, processing and statistics generation for large scale data flows.Designed and implemented REST APIs using the Oat++ framework to expose analytics data to UI layers, enabling faster insight retrieval and improved endpoint stability.Applied concurrency constructs (threads, atomics, lock-free patterns) and tuned critical code paths to reduce processing latency and improve throughput under load.Engineered database schema changes and optimized PostgreSQL query performance for threat-detection workflows, including integration of third-party threat-intelligence (via CrowdStrike) into our stream.
