About Mohammad Faruque

I am a Data Analyst with an Engineering background. In my previous role, for over 5 years I have performed ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and analyzed big data sets and leveraged problem solving frameworks such as SMART & MECE to improve the capital efficiency of Marathon Oil Company. During my early field assignments as engineer, where I lead teams of 10 to 20 field personnel, helped me develop a strong leadership and interpersonal skills. In my office role I regularly used various BI tools to effectively extract the story from big data sets that oil companies collect into meaningful business insights in order to aid in the various executive decision making process.I have recently completed two intensive Data Analytics Boot camps by Springboard & Google. These enhanced my already existing analytical skills and added few more useful tools in my Data Analytics toolbox. As a Data Analyst & Reservoir Engineer at Marathon Oil Company, I was responsible for collecting data from various public databases, data sharing agreements with competitors or from in house databases in various formats and analyzed the data to learn some key performance metrics of our competitors and compare them to our own metrics and make necessary changes based on the key learnings. My analytical skills were also applied into understanding our well forecasts based on numerous new raw data coming from recent wells and make necessary changes to our reserve estimation before reporting to SEC. Inefficiency always bothers me in any process and I have wrote several scripts, macros to improved efficiency in our data collection and gathering process.I am an intrinsically curious person and this character trait served me well so far.
