ABOUT MO SAFARI
Mo is a Technical Director and Track Team Lead for England and Wales regions at Arcadis. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow member of PWI and an International Professional Engineer. He is Network Rail approved Contractor’s Responsible Engineer (CRE) with valuable industry & academic training and specialist skills in the application of civil engineering to track design and effective rail delivery. Mo has an in-depth appreciation of railway and civil engineering issues and his experience in rail and civil engineering covers design, maintenance, and asset management. Mo has extensive track engineering design and leading design experiences in large multidisciplinary projects such as HS2 Phase 1, HS2 2a, and HS2 Phase 2b as well as upgrade projects (GRIP1-8/ES1-ES8) such as Ilford, Clapham Junction, Strawberry Hill, Bletchley and Neville Hill depots, and Vale sidings. He has been also involved in numerous track asset inspections and audits for different train operating companies within the UK including c2c, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway, East West Rail, DLR, and Hitachi. He has also delivered international projects for RTA (Dubai Metro) and Hong Kong East Rail Line. Mo has a Ph.D. in Railway Engineering. His Ph.D. aimed to optimise and develop an improved understanding of the impact of sleepers, ballast, and sleeper/ballast interface modifications on the performance of conventional ballasted track and formation. He has published a number of journals and conference papers during his research study and his work was in support of the ‘Railway Track for the 21st Century’ initiative partnered by Network Rail.
