About Mohammad Omar Faruk Murad

I am working as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Ph.D. I have finished my PhD in Soil Science from The University of Sydney. My Ph.D. research has focused on the non‐destructive investigation of soil physical properties such as soil moisture, organic carbon, density, and particle size distribution. The specific technologies I am working on have made substantial contributions to the field of Precision Agriculture, a digitalization movement within the industry, which seeks to increase the efficiency of water use and other farm inputs to maximize yields while minimizing input losses. My current research is focused on the development of a VisNIR penetrometer and a hand-held drill equipped with VisNIR spectroscopy to predict soil carbon contents for soil carbon sequestration auditing purposes.
