About Mohammad Mayyas
I am currently a Professor and Chair of Engineering Technology. And Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives at Miami University, leading the department\'s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Hub in its new facility at the Technology Park, and Miami University’s Polytechnic initiative. With over 15 years of experience in robotics and automation engineering, I previously served as the Director of Robotics Engineering and Mechatronics at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), and as the Director of the Robotics Division at the University of Texas at Arlington. I hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, specializing in MEMS design and modeling. At BGSU, I founded and led two interdisciplinary academic programs, secured external grants and industrial funds, created advanced manufacturing facilities, and published numerous peer-reviewed papers, patents, and book chapters. I developed and taught foundational courses, solved real-world industrial problems, and contributed to assistive robotics and medical device technologies. Additionally, as a board member of the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE), I promote the awareness and understanding of material handling and logistics. My mission is to advance robotics and automation engineering through innovative teaching, mentoring, and research, inspiring the next generation of engineers.
