ABOUT MOHAMMAD ABDUL MALEK

By training and practice, I am an applied(agricultural) and Development Economist specialised in evidence-based research, including randomized control trials (RCTs). In addition to Professorial position, I am now leading the Mahabub Hossain Panel Data (MHPD), the oldest household panel data (19••••23) in Bangaldesh, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), a Co-Investigator of a JSPS-supported science platform (panel data center for Asia and Africa) based in Kyoto University, and an invited researcher at the Center for Research and Education in Program Evaluation (CREPE), The University of Tokyo. I have published articles in reputable journals, and my co-authored paper received the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE) Outstanding Article Award in 2022. Currently, I am the Executive Committee Member for the Asian Society for Agricultural Economists (ASAE), the Founding Representative Director of Network of Bangladeshi Researchers in Japan (NBRJ), and am the Associate Editor for the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AJARE). My research projects got funding from ADB, ADBI, JSPS, 3ie, IGC, Gates Foundation, DFAT, etc. My current research topics broadly include Digital/Social Innovations, Climate Resilient Agriculture, Poverty Dynamics, Productive Aging, Alternative data, etc. In the University, while i offer diverse courses in economics, my thesis/research instructions broadly cover the field of applied and development economics.
