About Mohammad Irshad Alam

I did a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from IIT Patna, India. Currently, I am working on a sharp interface IBM is developed to simulate non-Newtonian fluids in complex and moving geometries. The present method uses a Cartesian fluid mesh through the entire computational space. The immersed geometry is defined as a spate surface mesh file. Predictions based on our in-house code are compared with available literature data on power law, Carreau, and Newtonian fluids for simple and complex geometries. This study demonstrates simulations of non-Newtonian flows past 2D oscillating cylinder, natural convection over moving obstacles inside the enclosure and flow through irregular and collapsible channels. Differences with Newtonian fluid behavior in terms of flow structure and thermal profiles are observed and explained via the behavior of viscosity for different non-Newtonian fluids. I Have Total of 5 + years of Teaching Experience in the Field of Mechanical Engineering with Esteemed and Premier Institute and Engineering Colleges of India. SUMMARY : • Experience in the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics in non-Newtonian fluid and Arterial flow simulation. • Experience in Finite Difference based solver • Experience in Multi-physics based Navier-stokes solver: Oscillating flow, Diseased Arterial Flow(stenosed and Aneurysm type geometry), non-Newtonian (power law, Carreau-Yasuda model) problems. • Experiences in the development and implementation of massively parallel computer simulation (domain Decomposition) algorithms (High-Performance Computing, OpenAcc) to solve mathematical models of complex fluid flow engineering problems. • Experience in laminar and transient flow modeling of the fixed/moving body using Finite difference Immersed boundary solver, ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, COMSOL MultiPhysics, etc. • Experiences in programming with FORTRAN 77/90, MATLAB, C++, OpenACC and various compilers and analysis tools under Linux & Windows platforms, • Hard Working, Strong interpersonal, teamwork skills and highly capable of working in high stress. Courses: Introduction to fluid mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, CFD, Linear Algebra, Numerical Method, Heat Transfer, Matrix Solver, Introduction to Bio-fluids.
