ABOUT MOHAMMAD HADI BAZRKAR
Dr. Bazrkar is an accomplished researcher and educator with affiliations at Texas A&M University. He serves as a faculty lecturer at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and as a program aid at Texas A&M AgriLife. Starting in August 2021, he joined Texas A&M AgriLife Research as a postdoctoral research associate. His primary research interests encompass the identification and prediction of extreme events, as well as their impacts on water quality. Dr. Bazrkar employs statistical and machine learning techniques to investigate these areas. He has made significant contributions to the field, developing three innovative drought indices: the hydroclimatic aggregate drought index (HADI), the snow-based hydroclimatic aggregate drought index (SHADI), and the standardized baseflow index (SBFI). Additionally, he has devised a customized drought categorization (CDC) model that considers both spatial and temporal aspects of drought patterns. To enhance drought prediction capabilities, Dr. Bazrkar has also created two soft-computing models: the ensemble stationary-based support vector regression (ESSVR) and the category-based scoring support vector regression (CBS-SVR). In addition to his work on drought, Dr. Bazrkar is involved in eco-hydrologic modeling. He utilizes SWAT and APEX-MODFLOW to simulate water quality parameters, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the eco-hydrologic system.
