ABOUT MOHAMED MANDOUR
An experienced researcher and journalist specializing in press freedom, transnational repression, and digital repression, with a focus on AI’s role in authoritarian control. I am an expert on Egypt and the Gulf region. My work also covers U.S. foreign policy toward the Middle East—particularly military aid, sanctions, and U.S-Egypt relations—and human rights conditions in Egypt, focusing on freedom of religion, civil society, and academic freedoms. I am a published author of several articles in prominent outlets such as Jadaliyya, Rowaq Arabi, and Newlines Magazine, and contributed a book chapter on the status of peasants amid neoliberal transformations in Egypt. Recently, I have expanded my reporting to investigate AI’s impact on repression and digital rights across the MENA region.
