Governance, innovation and sustainable performance of wine cooperatives, organizational innovations and adoption of new varieties. Faced with climate change and societal demand for more \"natural\" products (organic, biodynamic, natural wines in particular), the wine industry, like all agricultural sectors, is greatly concerned by sustainability imperatives (FranceAgriMer, 2017). Wine cooperatives, which represent 40% of French wine production, are also aware of the need to evolve and find new production methods with a perspective of climatic and agroecological transition. The thesis project aims to analyze how the governance of wine cooperatives can interact with organizational innovations and how this influences short or long term varietal innovation strategies, in order to notably reduce risks of production variations, and on the sustainable performance of these democratically run businesses. We will thus focus on organizational innovations related to cooperative specificities (relations cooperative-members, collective strategic project, in particular) and on innovations in viticulture related to new varieties, mainly concerning resistant grape varieties to certain diseases or adapted to climate warming (problems of water stress). The theoretical framework will cross approaches of governance with those of innovation, while specific indicators of sustainable performance for cooperatives will have to be constructed. Methodologically, three phases are planned: a systematic literature review, an exploratory phase of qualitative interviews, then a quantitative survey, combined with the use of databases.
