Roles and Responsibilities• Provide leadership to the structural engineering team, including engineers and technicians. Set departmental goals and objectives, and develop strategies to achieve them.• Oversee multiple projects and coordinate with project managers to ensure proper resource allocation and project planning.• Provide technical guidance and expertise to the structural engineering team. Reviewing and approving designs, calculations, and drawings and ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.• Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and safety of structural designs by conducting quality reviews and inspections to identify and rectify issues.• Interface with clients to understand their needs and ensure client satisfaction. Handle client concerns or issues related to engineering projects. Develop and maintain client relationships to secure future projects and contracts. Identify and pursue new business opportunities. Recruit, train, mentor, and develop engineering staff. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the department.• Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices. Work with regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and approvals.• Identify and mitigate potential risks related to structural engineering projects. Develop and implement risk management strategies. Ensure that the team adheres to health and safety protocols and guidelines.• Collaborate with architecture and contractors, to ensure integrated project delivery. Coordinate with external consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.• Promote and implement innovative technologies and methods within the department to improve efficiency and quality. Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.• Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible engineering practices in structural design and construction.
