About Moein Borghei

An engineer/scientist focused on high-voltage and dielectric systems across different media - including the kind that have to behave in vacuum, where the physics is unforgiving.I work on high-voltage systems from an idea all the way to hardware: designing, simulating, and testing compact setups that can generate and transfer hundreds of kilovolts. I like living in the full loop: from requirements to design, multiphysics modeling, build, diagnostics, and iteration. When things break (they do), I’m happiest figuring out why and turning that into a cleaner design.A few areas I spend a lot of time in:• High-voltage design (insulation, geometry, field control, reliability)• Breakdown / partial discharge behavior and diagnostics• Compact HV hardware (power supplies, feedthroughs, interfaces)• Simulation-driven engineering (electrostatics, magnetics, heat transfer, charged particles)• Bridging research thinking with buildable, testable hardwareOutside the lab, you’ll usually find me cooking or baking, playing badminton or soccer, or reading philosophy.

   I help connect early-career engineers and researchers in high-voltage, dielectrics and electrical insulation worldwide. I lead a team of 11 volunteers from all over the world that organizes monthly webinars, supports publication/outreach activities, and builds YP community at conferences through creating pathways for networking, visibility, and leadership.
