SoMe4Dem (Social Media for Democracy) is an EU Horizon 2020-funded project that investigates how social media influences democracy and digital citizenship. It aims to uncover the mechanisms behind social media’s impact on political debate and public trust, while developing tools to strengthen its role in supporting democratic values.Our task aims to simulate the effects of recommender systems on users’ information consumption using real web browsing data. The primary goal is to evaluate how recommender systems can be improved to enhance information quality without reducing user satisfaction. 1⃣ Exploring and evaluating quality-related variables (exogenous cues) that may lead to higher-quality media recommendations.2⃣ Integrating these quality cues into standard recommendation algorithms to develop an augmented model. • Collaborated closely with a team of senior scientists in a multidisciplinary research initiative focused on Information quality, recommender systems, and political science.• Served as the key contributor, leading the development and implementation of the core data processing and experimentation pipeline.• Translated conceptual research ideas and hypotheses into executable code and measurable outcomes.• Regularly presented project progress, analytical findings, and technical updates to the research team.• Integrated diverse scientific perspectives into the design and execution of experiments, ensuring alignment with project goals.• Maintained end-to-end responsibility for the reproducibility, scalability, and accuracy of the implemented solution.• Played a central role in shaping the research direction through data-driven insights and iterative prototyping.
