ABOUT MINA MEKHAIL
I’m a scientist turned entrepreneur who believes science shouldn’t stop at discovery; it should solve real-world problems. As the Founder and CEO of Fresher Technologies, I’m leading a team on a mission to fight global food waste through sustainable, active packaging that extends the shelf life of fresh proteins. I hold a PhD in bioengineering from McGill University and have spent much of my career exploring how science can move from the lab into the real world. That journey has led to many peer-reviewed publications, patents and collaborations with leading organizations in Canada and abroad. I’m grateful for the recognition and support along the way, including the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 (Atlantic) award.Before founding Fresher, I spent several years helping early-stage biotech ventures to translate research into practical innovations. That experience shaped my passion for helping other scientists see a similar path. I now share those insights and lessons learned (and continue to learn) through talk and mentorship programs focused on science-driven entrepreneurship that make a difference.
