About Michael Leventhal
Virtual Reality is an ideal tool for promoting empathy. And empathy is key to improving social outcomes for the disabled. Neurodiverse City is a proposal for a curriculum that will improve social outcomes for the disabled by helping all children to interact with and develop empathy with disabled peers. The curriculum will not only address children\'s questions and concerns about disability, it will also provide them with real and virtual social engagement. Students will learn about disability through live presentations, readings and watching first-person video accounts of daily life with a disability as told by disabled children. The curriculum concludes with an AR/VR experience in which students visit the children featured in the videos studied. Educators can customize the curriculum to address disabilities pertinent to the community school administrators are encouraged to identify and address disabilities pertinent to each school district. Guest speakers and community service projects provide students with multiple for positive interpersonal experiences. At semester\'s end, an AR/ VR experience will allow students to walk a mile in the shoes of the children they learned from through their video diaries.
