About Mary Johnson
Psychotherapy is a later-in-life career change for me. I decided to go back to leave the world of content marketing and the business I started and go back to graduate school at the age of 40. Three years later, I have found work that offers purpose, meaning, and connection, and I could not be more thrilled. I completed my graduate practicum and internship in the Pediatric Psychology Department at Levine Children’s Hospital, where I provided psychotherapy services to children and families on the Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit and outpatient services to children with long-term and terminal illnesses. I now serve children and families who have experienced long-term and terminal illnesses, as well as medical trauma. I have specialized training in trauma-informed care and EMDR, as well as in child-centered play therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. I am an active member of the North Carolina Counseling Association, where I serve on the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling committee and where I have presented on the topic of trauma-informed care among children and adolescents.
