As Division Leader my role is to provide leadership, oversight and management of the Materials Science Division’s (MSD)~450 talented and dynamic staff that support the Laboratory\'s Programs, including Weapons and Complex Integration, NIF & Photon Science and Global Security programs, as well as programs funded by the DOE Office of Science and various non-DOE sponsors. I also oversee funding for a broad portfolio of programs and projects in MSD, including sponsored research, institutionally supported activities, and Laboratory Directed Research and Development (LDRD) projects. As a manager in the Associate Director’s Office within the Physical and Life Sciences (PLS) Directorate I work closely with leaders from the four other divisions – Physics, Nuclear/Chemical, Biosciences and Atmospheric/Earth/Energy – to help shape the strategic vision of the Directorate for the lab’s national security missions.
