About Mitesh Patel
Mitesh Patel previously served as the Lilly Loaned Executive acting as the BioCrossroads Chief Scientific Officer. He was responsible for enabling engagement in collaborative life science enterprises involving industry, clinical, philanthropic, and academic partners through the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) Foundation. Mitesh supported development programs within The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI) and the 16 Tech Innovation District.He joined Lilly as a technical program manager, leading design development of Connected Care medical device projects ranging from conceptual prototyping, design verification, FDA interaction, and supporting manufacturing launch readiness. He has managed internal and external stakeholders by channeling integration between software/hardware development, medical, marketing, human factors, and packaging teams. He previously rotated through the Search and Evaluation team, leading the technical evaluation and diligence efforts across new and potentially disruptive external innovation partnerships within novel therapeutics, connected devices, and digital health. Prior to Lilly, his work encompassed materials science research, development engineering, commercial manufacturing scale-up, and technology transfers for Fort Wayne Metals, Rolls-Royce Corp, Apple Inc, and Purdue University. His research interests include Nitinol (NiTi) shape memory alloy applications with focus on materials structure, design properties, process optimization, and mechanical testing.Mitesh Patel has a B.S. in Materials Science Engineering from Purdue University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis, and is PMP certified.Mitesh’s volunteer experiences include being a Lead Entrepreneur Mentor for the AXIS Program, serving as a Lilly STEM Partner for Techpoint Youth, and is a Resident Volunteer Member for the Employee Diversity Council in the Town of Plainfield, IN.
