Duties include: Assesses vocational needs of Veterans based upon employment and educational history, current barriers to employment, interests and skills. Assesses client’s aptitudes, conducts interest inventories, and identifies training needs, and job readiness. Helps clients develop their career goals and objectives for entry/ re-entry into the workforce. Works with clients to design and implement individualized employment plans for job development and placement. Trains clients on job search techniques, resume writing, and interviewing skills. Provides direct services and referrals which includes, but not limited to: access to job listing; resume preparation; vocational counseling; negotiations with employers for reasonable accommodations; assistance with completion and submission of job applications; preparation and execution of job interviews; interview skill training; job development; job placement; and employment follow-up. Works with, and coordinates with, the Alabama One-Stop Career Center, Alabama Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence, Army Wounded Warrior Program, Department of Veterans Affairs - Vocational Rehabilitation, and Department of Labor to provide an array of work related job services such as counseling, entry into vocational training programs, and competitive employment. Collaborates with local, state, and government agencies to facilitate access to supportive services, social services, training and education. Liaises with Redstone Arsenal, Alabama Equal Opportunity personnel, local businesses including Veteran-owned businesses, and recruiters throughout the country to identify and distribute career opportunities to clients.Participates in policy making, statistical data collecting, goal setting, and treatment services planning discussions for the Homeless Programs under HUD-VASH.
