About Mitchell Ramba

Now located in Washington, I have jumped headfirst into the fisheries/forestry industry, joining West Fork Environmental, a local outfit with deep roots in the area. My new work has allowed me to get my bearings across the PNW and gain an appreciation for the region. I have been drinking from the firehose of knowledge on fisheries management and help fabricate and install RFID PIT tag equipment to monitor salmonids across multiple states. I am also becoming familiar with other means of fish monitoring (fry and screw trapping). Tapping into my geology background, I have been able to compile reports on the geologic setting of river systems on the Olympic Peninsula to aid habitat restoration efforts. Prior to this, I worked as a geologist at the Stillwater Mine in Nye, Montana. As a member of the grade control team, I helped guide the mining department along the highest grade palladium/platinum deposit in the world. Utilizing AutoCAD and Vulcan, I learned to model ore deposit contacts, created drill proposals, and mapped our day to day mining operations. My work took me underground each day, giving me hands on experience with narrow vein mining methods and the intricacies of underground mining. I learned to become a problem solver.
