About Mitchell Hunter

Growing up I found myself scared to take risks. My fear of heights brought me to learn how to climb in Yosemite National Park. My fear of open water brought me to get my dive license in California. As an introverted only child, I was afraid of standing out socially, so I became a martial arts national champion and the starting quarterback of my football team. My father always stressed to me that the most important in my personal development is learning to overcome, adapt and embrace change. The world is always moving and will never stop growing, morphing, and creating. What I learned about success in the modern world is that there is no one answer, perfection is not a singular path. On the evening of November 17, 2018, I found myself at the Borderline Bar and Grill when a gunman opened fire inside the bar killing 13 people. I was next to my best friend who suffered a gunshot wound at point-blank range and miraculously survived. I remember thinking back to my father’s advice, to overcome, adapt and embrace change. I realized that his advice wasn’t about reacting to change but learning from everything you’ve changed from. The world slowed down after that, I learned how precious the gift of life is and how harsh the world can be. As I recovered, I worked hard at community college while juggling two Costco and Ted Baker London positions. Eventually, I moved up to a management position at Abercrombie & Fitch and eventually moved up to another management position at Lululemon one of Glassdoor’s top ten places to work. Along with this, I would find myself on the Dean’s List at Moorpark, eventually getting accepted into Arizona State’s prestigious W.P. Carey for Business Financial Planning. I am attending Arizona State, and planning to enter the job market again. The modern world is all about embracing change, something I feel I’ve perfected. My life is just getting started and I welcome the new challenges I face in this constantly changing world. I’m actively pursuing positions and internships in all fields of business and am ready to perfect my skills in new professions.
