About Misty Breen
There\'s nothing worse than wasting a half day, or even a half hour, in mundane training where you already know the content being shared, but you have to prove you know it. That was one reason I moved into educational leadership and then instructional design. Nobody wants to waste their time in meaningless training, and since I have the ability to engage learners and effectively spark change, my career evolved. My goal as an Instructional Designer, also known as a Memorable Experience Maker, is to: properly identify needs before developing training. avoid an unnecessary information dump. create meaningful and engaging solutions, resulting in behavioral shifts and goals being fulfilled. True story: I slipped on ice at work and broke my wrist. Yes, I completed the eLearning prior to the accident. However, it wasn\'t engaging and didn\'t have memorable information on how to handle icy pathways. And so I slipped, as did three others that fateful day. This incident inspired me to create an Articulate Rise 360 training where a penguin demonstrates proper winter weather walking. Yes, a penguin. My training solutions provide something memorable to help alter behavior and reach business goals. As an Instructional Designer: I listen. I assess the needs of your business and gain clarity on the desired change. I select a course of action that meets the business objectives. Sometimes that shows up as an eLearning scenario in which the learner faces real-world dilemmas or as a microlearning. The solution may be a virtual instructor-led training (VILT). Or, it may show up as a recommended policy change. What you can count on is that THE SOLUTION ADDRESSES THE PROBLEM. When training is the solution, I create engaging, learner-centric content that allows for practice of the desired behavior. Making memorable experiences is key to designing and developing effective solutions. Let\'s connect and explore opportunities to collaborate on transforming learning experiences.
