About Missy Owens

I have worked and lived in and around politics my entire life. I\'ve been on the inside, the sideline, the middle and the outside and know how decisions happen and their impact - intended or not. I moved to the corporate world to bring that understanding and insight to bear, trading a voter for a consumer as my focus. I am an experienced leader at the intersection of business and government with a deep understanding of their interconnectedness. I have a strategic ability to identify the goals of an organization and the varying ways from policy, to NGOs, multilaterals, and consumers that can be used to achieve said goals. I have worked extensively with industry coalitions and third-party groups to create, organize, and then support a newly stated policy goal. I am a strong, high energy, goal-oriented leader of teams three to sixty.I enjoy leading strategy development and coalition building, anchored in an understanding of emerging consumer needs, how the “winds are blowing” in the federal and state governments, and what that means with respect to how the organization would need to work and with whom it would need to engage to deliver against that strategy. I believe there is almost always a solution that is rooted in the business case, but also works for the consumer and the government. I bring people together to find those solutions, build teams and coalitions to support them and then work to activate them. My most recent work focused on sustainability; my team and I were successful in developing a strategy that would enable us to achieve ambitious corporate sustainability goals. Where I recognize a need, I am among the first to jump in and work to build a team or coalition to provide a solution and keep moving forward. We built a circular economy initiative that changed the industry and had a positive impact on the environment and our business. The intersection of customer, government, and business with sustainability is work that I both enjoy and thrive in doing.
