ABOUT ROSIE GINDAY
Hello,I\'m Rosie Ginday, the founder and CEO of the social enterprise Miss Macaroon which I founded in 2011, when the term was little known in the mainstream consciousness. Social enterprises are businesses that trade and reinvest at least 50% of their profits for social good, in programmes that support people or the planet. Through the power of making and selling premium gluten-free French macaroons at Miss Macaroon we reinvest 100% of our profits in supporting young people who need a helping hand to gain skills that can change their lives. For hundreds of young people with mental health issues, learning differences, those who are on the Autism spectrum, Care leavers, ex-offenders, lone parents, those at risk of homelessness and those that are from a global majority background we have changed their world. We built psychotherapy into our training and work experience programmes, supporting long-term unemployed young people with multiple and complex needs to move into catering, hospitality, retail, teaching, admin, marketing, construction and many other industries. I was awarded a MBE and honorary doctorate for this work in 2019.I created Miss Macaroon because I could see through my own and others\' early experiences that it only takes one person to hold your hand through a tough time for your life to take a completely different path. I wanted to create a social enterprise business that combined my passion for premium quality food - born from my training as a high-end pastry chef at University College Birmingham - and my work in Michelin starred restaurant Purnell’s in Birmingham. But I also wanted to provide that support system for young people that allowed them to take that different path. So at Miss Macaroon we help young people build their skills and confidence while providing moments of sublime indulgence for our customers, who through buying our macaroons are helping young people to overcome barriers and achieve their goals.An experienced speaker on social enterprise, entrepreneurship, leadership, DEI and mental health, I am enthusiastic about increasing awareness about the sector and inspiring young people to set up in social enterprise.Visit us at to learn more about our delicious offerings and our mission to bake a brighter future, one macaron at a time.
