Assist the news director in the management of about 40 news employees. Work closely with the news director to define and implement news strategy across all platforms and disciplines to ensure timely, thoughtful and meaningful journalism is delivered to our audience. I act as a liaison between my station and corporate, the network (ABC) and other sister properties/affiliates, to coordinate story coverage, share newsgathering and facilitate content-sharing. I manage special projects across departments from concept to delivery. I act as team leader for ABC15\'s investigative team - developing story pitches, assisting in research and FOIA requests, and scheduling shoots and staffing. I also maintain the news staff schedules and PTO. On a daily basis, I lead the editorial meetings and help focus reporter pitches and staff story ideas, fine-tuning ideas into impactful stories. Copyediting reporter scripts for accuracy, clarity and length is a daily duty. I also assist in recruiting and hiring newsroom staff.
