ABOUT MIRNA D.

I am a Product Manager at Rapid Infection Diagnostics (RID) Inc, an early-stage MedTech company transforming how infectious diseases are diagnosed. Our platform uses advanced mass spectrometry and metabolomics to identify pathogens and guide antibiotic treatment within hours, not days, enabling faster, more effective clinical decisions. I hold two MSc degrees: one in Genomics and Proteomics from Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, and another in Biophysical Chemistry from the University of Calgary, where I applied quantum mechanics to study membrane transport proteins. I began that path as a PhD student but transitioned to a MSc after recognizing that my strengths and long-term goals aligned more with building and scaling products than with academic research. At RID, I operate at the intersection of science, strategy, and execution. In a team of seven, I manage core functions beyond product, including project management, grant reporting, marketing, partner communications, and early commercial planning. I lead initiatives that translate technical R&D into scalable, real-world solutions. I thrive in the pace and ambiguity of startup environments, where flexibility, focus, and resourcefulness are essential. Beyond my day-to-day work, I actively support the broader innovation ecosystem. I am Chair of the Board at YYC Data Society, where I drive strategy and programming to foster an inclusive, data-literate tech community. I also serve as a Board Director at Canadian Entrepreneurs in Life Sciences (CELS), supporting early-stage founders through ecosystem-building, content development, and curated networking experiences. I care deeply about building technologies that solve urgent health challenges, and I believe that well-connected communities are essential to unlocking innovation. I bring a systems-thinking mindset, strong communication skills, and a bias toward action to every team I work with. Whether navigating regulatory pathways, building cross-functional alignment, or strengthening community infrastructure, I approach each challenge with focus and intention.
