About Miriam Joseph

Educated in Africa, India and Britain, Miriam has over 30 years experience in media. After film school at the University of London\'s Goldsmith\'s College, she started her career with the BBC and was a broadcast journalist, documentary/drama producer with them. She spent the next 12 years working in Britain for several international television broadcasters including the BBC, Channel 4, PBS, ITV, Channel 5 etc making investigative, political and history documentaries and drama/docs. She moved to India to fulfill a long-held ambition of working on feature films and joined Excel Entertainment. Over the next few years, first as Executive Producer and then as CEO, she demonstrated an ability to build, nurture and lead large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver some of the highest production values in Hindi cinema, with films like Don, Don 2, Rock On, Luck By Chance, Kartik Calling Kartik, Game etc. Miriam\'s at home with large-budget, star driven films as she is with small budget, independent films and with episodic series for OTT. She now works as a Consulting Producer to production companies across their output, like Endemol Shine, Cinestaan, Guru Films, Arka Film, Little Films etc. Miriam was Consultant to the National Film Development Corporation & Film Bazaar, acting as mentor to their Screen Writers\' & Producers\' Labs from 20••••18 and vetting and recommending projects for their annual Co-Production Market. She now participates as a selection committee member for film festivals like the International Film Festival of Rotterdam/Hubert Bals Fund, International Film Festival of Kerala, Regina International Festival etc Miriam lectures at a few film schools incl, SRFTI, MIT Pune, Annapurna, KRNNVISA. She helped set up India\'s first ever Producing course at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, also designing its syllabus and curriculum. A course which now serves as a template for other film schools. Miriam is also a published author.
