ABOUT XIYAO SHOU
Xiyao (Miranda) Shou (she/her) is an interdisciplinary engineer and scientist specializing in biotechnology, material science, and human–computer interaction (HCI). She develops electronic-based systems, wearables, and biobased solutions, leveraging data to advance scientific discovery and technological innovation.Holding a Master’s in Bio-Integrated Design from University College London (UCL), Miranda has contributed to advanced medical devices, consumer electronics, and bio-inspired interfaces. Her research integrates synthetic biology, electronics design, computational modeling, and sustainable materials innovation, bridging living systems and advanced technology to address pressing environmental challenges.Her work spans micro scale biological engineering (bacteria, biofilms, biosensors, bioinformatics) to meso-scale structural and product design, with a focus on climate-conscious, resource-efficient, and data-driven solutions that harmonize human innovation with ecological systems.
