ABOUT MIRANDA JARRETT 姜明兰
I am a writer, researcher and China specialist who wants to make a positive impact by promoting nuance and countering oversimplification in today’s hectic information environment. I am well-rounded with experience across customer service, administration, language services, market research, and journalism roles as well as a combined academic background in STEM and Humanities subjects. I am looking for roles as a researcher, analyst, or writer/editor. Interest Areas My research and writing interests span a few areas, including but not limited to trade policy and diplomatic relations between China and other countries; the global tech sector (particularly social media, Big Tech, and misinformation); and consumer behaviour in the APAC region and emerging markets. Values/Motivation I enjoy getting to grips with complex issues, seeking out opposing perspectives and gathering diverse data, and communicating information in an unbiased, but persuasive way. Development Goals I am currently working on expanding my knowledge in AI policy and in tech policy more widely, with the view to advising those outside China on the Chinese government’s thinking and decision-making in this sector.
