About Mira Chew

Currently studying mechanical engineering at Olin College of Engineering, I have a history in mechanical focused robotic systems. I work as a mechanical engineer for Johnson and Johnson Surgical Robotics where I design custom gears, actuators, surgical instruments, and optimize assembly/manufacturing processes. I have extensive experience in collaborative based engineering competitions including founding an FTC robotics team placing on first alliance in state competition. As design and fabrication lead for Olin College\'s Baja SAE team, I brought us to our highest performing competition in years this past September. I have a diverse background across robotics systems with software experience. I interned for software development at AppEsteem where I worked on our ad-blurring search engine. I also worked for a Machine Learning Robotics Lab at University of Washington where I trained Deep RL agents as well as worked on the mechanics of robotic arm optical tracking. I am incredibly passionate about assistive technology from my work to design custom engineering solutions to aid elderly people with everyday tasks, to working on surgical robots to increase performance of various surgeries while reducing complications.
