ABOUT MINH NGUYEN
My passion for energy equity started with a single fluorescent light during 2nd grade in Viet Nam. My family was dirt poor after the War and electricity was a luxury that we could not afford. My dad pulled rickshaw 12 hours a day and we finally saved enough to afford electricity for 1 fluorescent light in the house. To this day I still remember the magical feeling when I turned on a small fluorescent light for the first time after years of studying under candlelight. In the 90s, my family emigrated to the U.S. to pursue the American dream. Since 2008, I’ve dedicated my career to the energy industry, ensuring safe, reliable electric service for millions in the Chicagoland area. My journey includes roles as a field engineer, project manager, distribution engineer, Manager of System Operations, and now as Manager of Innovation Enablement & Transformation at Exelon.Today, I combine my engineering expertise with legal insights as I pursue an MS in Law at Northwestern. This unique perspective drives my mission: to advocate for energy equity and innovation as we embrace the clean energy transformation. I believe that energy policies that are legally sound, innovative, and technically feasible will bring forth positive social changes such as reducing GHG emissions and help fight the effects of climate change so that our children can live in a world with less severe weather events and breath in fresh clean air. For me, this work is more than a career, it’s a calling. It brings a profound sense of purpose and personal satisfaction, knowing that my efforts may bring a moment of magic to a child who will turn on their desk lamp for the first time today, just as I did many years ago in Saigon.Let’s connect to discuss how we can build a brighter, more equitable energy future together.
