ABOUT MINESH RANA

I have extensive experience advising senior board-level stakeholders on Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) pension plans.At PwC, I have spent my career supporting clients with DB pension scheme exposures, particularly in the context of actuarial valuations, transactions and restructuring activity. I advise management teams, trustees, shareholders, and purchasers of companies on the pensions implications of the corporate activity that they are looking to undertake. I leverage my experience from my secondment at the Pensions Regulator (TPR) and my involvement in several high-profile cases.In addition to my DB work, I have built a strong specialism in the DC market over the past five years. I have advised several Master Trusts on their authorisation process, reserving requirements, business plans, and cost structures.The DC Master Trust market has grown significantly—from c.£20bn to c.£200bn AUM in the last 15 years—and is undergoing rapid transformation. I have worked with multiple £10bn+ AUM providers to address key challenges such as regulatory requirements, strategic positioning, cost management, and market propositions.In addition to this I have worked with the British Venture Capital and Private Equity Association to examine the barriers preventing greater pension fund investment in private capital and explore potential solutions.I am passionate about improving how people manage their pension savings, in order to ensure better retirement outcomes. Whether working with DB schemes, DC Master Trusts, or Private Capital firms, my goal is to drive meaningful change in the industry. I enjoy tackling new market opportunities and building businesses, as I have done throughout my career—most notably by establishing PwC’s Reading-based covenant practice and our advisory team for DC Master Trust clients.
