About Mindy Lee Lipsky

After my mom passed away, I had an identity crisis. I had been her caregiver for 10 years. I was able to build my coaching business while caring for her. It was another outlet to help people. When she died in May of 2018, I wasn’t sure what to do with myself. My pastor suggested I take a break from being an entrepreneur and to look for a job that I can go to, come home, get paid and be able to grieve without worrying where the next paycheck would come from. I saw a posting for a youth services library assistant at my local library. I started at 10 hours a week to see how it went. What I found was… working at a library is NOT what people think. It is not quiet, you don’t relax and wait for patrons to ask questions, and there is literally no time to read while working! To my surprise, it was fast paced, with a lot to learn and challenges to overcome. On top of that, the library is in the center of the community. People from all economic backgrounds use the library. I had found another way to help people! I began to do programming including working with our youth in the Maker Space. December of 2020, I found myself in a position to take on the Youth Services Coordinator position. I found even more amazing things the library can do in and for the community! I started writing grant requests, researching ways to improve the department and make the library more user friendly in a post pandemic time. I was so inspired, I decided to go back to college to earn my Masters in Library and Information Sciences. In December 2021, I was appointed Interim Director, with a new goal of being appointed Executive Director. February 24th, 2022 I was thrilled to be to be the Board of Directors\' choice to take the Pottstown Regional Public Library to the next level. Over the next 2 and a half years I got to work and helped the library make many positive changes for our community. Unfortunately, in 2024 the fit with the new board and me as executive director of Pottstown Regional Public Library turned unhealthy. I made the very difficult decision to resign in June of 2024. I still had a lot of positive changes in mind for our community in Pottstown. Hopefully whoever they find to run the library will be as passionate! June 17th, 2024, I begin a new adventure as Library Director of Lansdale Public Library. I am excited to bring my experience and open mind to learn from the staff! Cheers to new beginnings.
