I have worked in newspapers for more than 18 years and still get a thrill every time I hear a press running full throttle. As a writer and designer, I have been responsible for finding, polishing and presenting stories for award-winning publications. Success in my recent role - on the copy and design desk at Hutchinson News - demanded editing skill, knowledge of AP style, commitment to creative page design and multimedia mastery under deadline pressure. In addition to the company of brilliant, driven people, I have been blessed with the opportunity to conquer new content-management systems, software and ways of thinking as The News\' staff rapidly adapted to an Internet-first philosophy.
