About Milo Karnes
I\'m Milo Karnes, a sophomore at Georgia Tech majoring in Aerospace Engineering, with a strong interest in propulsion systems, defense tech, and hands-on problem-solving.Currently, I\'m a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Regal Technology Partners, where I support the design and troubleshooting of electronics for aerospace and defense programs. This follows a 10-month internship at Flight Works Inc, where I collaborated with NASA on satellite valve systems and led machining and assembly for UAV components.On campus, I’m an Engine Design Engineer with the Yellow Jacket Space Program (YJSP), contributing to the development of an ablative kerosene/LOX rocket engine. My work has focused on system-level design, component modeling, and integration — offering a hands-on, team-driven environment that has deepened my passion for space systems and propulsion.I recently attended the GE Aerospace L.I.F.T. Summit, where I connected with leaders and engineers driving innovation in both commercial and military aviation. The experience offered firsthand insight into the future of flight and reaffirmed my excitement about a career in aerospace, and I plan to join GE in the future as an Engine Manufacturing Intern, circa Summer 2026.In addition to engineering, I compete as an attorney on Georgia Tech’s Mock Trial team, where I develop case strategy, deliver arguments, and examine witnesses at national-level competitions. It’s sharpened my ability to think critically under pressure and communicate complex ideas clearly — both in and out of the courtroom.Outside of school, I serve as Executive Secretary for a youth soccer organization that supports over children and 400+ adult volunteers. I also have experience as a camp counselor and tutor, with over 700 total volunteer hours dedicated to mentorship, communication, and community building.I’m driven by curiosity, creativity, and the belief that engineering is a tool to build not just things, but meaningful impact. I’m always open to learning, collaborating, and pushing ideas forward.
