ABOUT MILLICENT ODINAKACHUKWU NGWU

Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile.I am Millicent Odinakachukwu Ngwu, a result oriented sociology student. I was honored with the University of Nigeria Vice Chancellor\'s Certificate of Merit as the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Sociology in 2018.My research work focuses on the intersections of mental health, family relationships, aging, health and social inequality. I am particularly interested in the ways early life experiences, including exposure to violence, incarceration, abuse, neglect, poverty, or family instability shape long-term overall health trajectories across the life course. I am committed to producing research that not only documents social problems but also informs practical solutions that improve population health—particularly for older adults, families, and other vulnerable groups like women and children. My research interests also include disability and functional health, maternal and child health, mental health, optimal aging, child development, paid and unpaid caregiving, social inequality, sexual and reproductive health, gender inequality, and intimate partner violence. I bring experience in teaching, academic writing, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, secondary data analysis, and methodological development. I aim to deepen my expertise in aging, health, and family studies as I build a career as an aging, family, and health scholar-practitioner.Beyond academics, I have demonstrated excellence in leadership, teamwork, service, and community engagement. I welcome opportunities for research collaboration, and community or organizational partnerships, especially in areas related to aging, health equity, and family wellbeing. Thank you again for connecting.
