About Logan Miller
I am currently an Application Scientist with Shimadzu\'s Application Development Center. My focus is primarily on application development and customer familiarization with Shimadzu\'s new Nexera QX product line. Previously with Shimadzu I was the MS Tech Support Specialist for the Mid-Atlantic Territory. I am responsible for providing LCMS technical support for the region, in addition I assist with pre-sale and post-sale support of the MS product lines including demonstrations, familiarizations, sample analysis, application development with customers, and producing technical material for the company. While working at Shimadzu I am finishing my graduate degree at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh PA. I work in the H.M.\"Skip\" Kingston research group which focuses on environmental human health. Current research involves the development of quantitative assays for the analysis of dried blood spots (DBS) for clinical and forensic toxicology related analytes using automated DBS desorption and online SPE instrumentation coupled to LCMS/MS with quantification by speciated isotope dilution mass spectrometry (D-SIDMS). Other projects involve the quantification of autistic spectrum disorder biomarkers using D-SIDMS with nanoESI Chip Cube LC/MS/MS QTOF. Additional projects include collaborative investigation with biology professor working on discovery based secretomic research and targeted analyte quantitation. In addition to LC/MS/MS workflows I am developing a solid state method to quantify biomarkers utilizing a novel laser desorption/laser ablation system that can be used to analyze organic and inorganic components. Previous work has involved developing microwave digestion protocols for radiochemical analysis of heavily contaminated soils utilizing alpha spectroscopy. My primary work involves the area of analytical chemistry including but not limited to:Mass Spectrometry (nanoESI Chip Cube, ESI, MALDI, QTOF, TOF, DBS-SPE, Laser Ablation, Laser Desorption)Liquid Chromatrography (HPLC)Sample Digestion (Microwave Digestions of various matrices)Radiochemistry (Alpha Spectroscopy)
