Full cycle Product Development• Supported a brand-new line of turn signal switches by playing a vital role in its design, development, testing and validation. Interfaced with customers and developed designs for new components to address product needs. Conducted a worst case and statistical stack analysis to ensure the design met assembly requirements.• Developed 3D printed prototypes and collaborated with offshore suppliers to develop new part tooling. • Collaborated with a cross-functional team to devise test methods for evaluating the product. Administered all mechanical tests and prepared test reports for the same. Field failure analysis and correction • Addressed the field failure of a switch component by devising a suitable test to replicate the failure and pinpoint root cause. Utilized Finite Element Analysis to assess changes in flexibility and strength resulting from design and material alteration. • Implemented a fishbone diagram to brainstorm root causes behind malfunctioning switches. Assisted in the development of an end-of-line camera system to be used by the supplier to validate metal contacts identified to be out of specification.Testing and Validation• Contributed towards testing and validation for several automotive products by devising and administering mechanical durability, thermal and vibration tests (as per industry standards) and preparing relevant test reports.Documentation• Took ownership of a switch documentation project aimed at restoring information vital to the manufacturing and sales team. Collaborated with drafters and external contractors to conclude documentation of an entire product series.
