ABOUT MILES SWAMMI

Currently I lead business development for 301 INC, General Mills\' venture fund. Prior to that, I led Venture Strategy for General Mills, identifying spaces to make small scale acquisitions. I drove GMI\'s entry into the Pet Supplements space via the acquisition of Fera Pet. At General Mills, I\'ve been able to rotate to several unique parts of the organization - ranging from Private Equity investing to Research & Development - where I\'ve had to learn and quickly adapt to new environments. I\'ve start-up my own technology company, Boothcast, from scratch. I enjoyed leading a team, the variety of work (one day tackling legal and then the next day working through project management with our developer team), and selling a vision to beat-writers that got them engaged on our platform. When I served on the board of AchieveMPLS, it was a full circle experience; I was able to give back to an organization that made a huge impact on me. In that role, I advocated from my unique vantage point as someone who grew up in North Minneapolis for the need of equity in our orgs values. I lead our Finance committee as Treasurer for 4 years, where I helped our org make a difficult decision to place a program we cultivated into the hands of another org given financial and strategic needs.
